Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has secured a position on the Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
JoySports reported in January that Mr. Okraku had submitted his nomination to contest for a seat on CAF’s highest decision-making body. He later clarified that he would automatically be added to the Executive Committee as the unopposed representative of WAFU Zone B.
As anticipated, Mr. Okraku ran unopposed and will serve a four-year term from 2025 to 2029 on the 24-member committee, which plays a crucial role in shaping the future of football across Africa.
Before assuming the presidency of the GFA in October 2019, Mr. Okraku was the Executive Chairman of Dreams FC. Four years later, he took on the role of head of WAFU Zone B.
This new role enhances Ghana’s influence in African football, offering the country a stronger voice in shaping key decisions that affect the sport. It also provides the GFA with an opportunity to advocate for progressive reforms and development across the continent.
Mr. Okraku now joins notable figures such as Ohene Djan, Kobina Hagan, Nana Fredua Mensah, Samuel Okyere, and Kwesi Nyantakyi, who have previously served on the CAF Executive Committee.
