Police have started a murder investigation after a 15-year-old boy was killed in a violent incident in Glasgow.
Amen Teklay was found badly hurt on Clarendon Street, near St George’s Cross, around 10:30 PM on Wednesday. Emergency services arrived, but he was declared dead at the scene.
Police Scotland said the killing appears to be an isolated incident, and detectives are keeping all possibilities in mind. The investigation is still in the early stages, but it is moving quickly.

Amen, originally from Eritrea, lived in Glasgow with his father. He had recently received permission to stay in the UK. He attended St Thomas Aquinas secondary school in Jordanhill. The school’s headteacher, Claire McInally, said his death was a “shock” to the school. She described Amen as a friendly, well-liked student with a keen interest in music and media, and she said he showed great promise.
Local community groups also paid tribute to the teenager. Kingsway Community Connections said they were devastated by his sudden death, and JATV Goals Youth Group, which offers film training for young people, also honored him. They said, “His life was tragically taken from us by the violence boxing works hard to fight against. Our community is heartbroken by the loss of a young boy who had so much ahead of him.”
Detective Superintendent Cheryl Kelly from Police Scotland said officers were reviewing CCTV footage and conducting door-to-door inquiries. She added, “Our thoughts are with Amen’s family and friends at this difficult time. We will continue to offer them support. We are also asking anyone who was in the area at the time or has relevant footage to contact us.”
She urged the local community to come forward with any information, as the answers to the case may lie with them
