Attorney-General Confirms Ordering Arrest of Prof. Ameyaw-Ekumfi

Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has revealed that he ordered the arrest of Prof. Christopher Ameyaw-Ekumfi, the former Board Chairman of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA), in relation to questionable financial transactions.

Dr. Ayine disclosed that Prof. Ameyaw-Ekumfi was interrogated regarding payments made during his tenure, particularly concerning a two-million-dollar sum disbursed for certain works that were never carried out.

“We are still investigating the circumstances of the payment and those who were involved,” Dr. Ayine stated in an interview with GhanaWeb TV.

The former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman hopeful was detained by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) on the morning of Sunday, March 2, 2025, as part of an ongoing probe into financial transactions during his time as Board Chairman of the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF).

However, he was released later in the evening.

Prof. Ameyaw-Ekumfi’s lawyer, Kenneth Korankye, maintains that his client is innocent of all allegations.
