Outgoing President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed optimism that history will ultimately offer a positive judgment of his tenure as President of Ghana.
In an emotional address at his final carols night with the staff of the Jubilee House, President Akufo-Addo shared his thoughts on his eight years in office, highlighting his dedication to the country and his sincere efforts to serve its best interests.
Akufo-Addo acknowledged that while the full impact of his leadership might not be immediately apparent, he believes future generations will come to recognize and appreciate the work he has done for Ghana. “I did my best, and I hope it will be appreciated,” he said.
The President also took the opportunity to reflect on the December 7 elections, calling them a “commendable display of democratic accountability.” He firmly refuted any allegations of foul play, particularly those suggesting he had conspired with the security agencies or the Electoral Commission to manipulate the election results in favor of his party. “As always, these allegations have proven to be baseless,” Akufo-Addo stated.
