John Dumelo has begun his tenure as the elected Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon with a gesture of goodwill, offering a free bus ride for University of Ghana students to travel home for the Christmas holidays.
The initiative is a token of appreciation for the students’ overwhelming support during the recent parliamentary election. Dumelo, who secured a victory by winning the majority of votes from all Legon polling centers, unseated the incumbent MP, Lydia Alhassan, with their backing. Their endorsement has been instrumental in fulfilling his long-standing ambition of becoming a legislator.
The free bus service is scheduled to run on Saturday, December 21, 2024, and will travel to several cities, including Kumasi, Ejisu, Konongo, Ho, Takoradi, Cape Coast, Winneba, and Elmina. The designated pick-up point for the students will be at the Volta Hall car park.
Expressing his gratitude, Dumelo took to social media to announce the initiative, saying, “Dear Legon students, let me take you back home free for your Xmas holidays. You know I dey 4 u! Freeeeeeee Buses for all students!”
