- Barcelona's lead cut in La Liga
Barcelona suffered an unexpected home defeat to Leganes, which has seen their lead at the top of La Liga shrink dramatically.
Following the loss, Barcelona now find themselves only ahead of Atletico Madrid on goal difference and just one point above third-placed Real Madrid.
Leganes, who climbed to 15th place in the league, took an early lead in the fourth minute when Sergio Gonzalez headed in from an Oscar Rodriguez corner. That goal would prove to be the only one of the match.
Despite dominating possession and registering 20 shots on goal, Barcelona were unable to find the back of the net. The closest they came was when Raphinha’s half-volley from an Alex Balde cross hit the crossbar.
Earlier on Sunday, Atletico Madrid secured a 1-0 victory over Getafe, which saw them level on points with Barcelona.
Meanwhile, defending champions Real Madrid were held to a 3-3 draw at Rayo Vallecano on Saturday, further tightening the race at the top of the table.
