Actor Prince David Osei has issued a public apology to supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) following backlash over remarks deemed disrespectful to President-elect John Dramani Mahama.

In a statement, Osei expressed regret for his comments during the campaign, writing, “I deeply apologize if my words during the campaign offended anyone from the NDC. We were all focused on winning, but now let’s move forward and live in peace. God bless Ghana.”

The apology follows intense criticism from NDC supporters who were offended by remarks the actor made after Mahama’s victory in the 2024 presidential election.

In a now-deleted post, Osei initially congratulated the President-elect, stating, “Congratulations to the President-elect of the Republic of Ghana. I will be president one day very soon, so showing honour to whom honour is due. Don’t get it twisted at all, guys. I am different, and there’s nothing to be ashamed of here.”

However, the post drew widespread outrage after Osei responded to a commenter by calling him a “fool” and questioning why he couldn’t aspire to become president, suggesting that even a “drunkard” had been elected.
