Friday, December 6 Declared as Public Holiday for Farmers’ Day

The Government of Ghana, through the Ministry of the Interior, has announced that Friday, December 6, 2024, will be observed as a statutory holiday to mark the annual Farmers’ Day celebration.

In a statement signed by Interior Minister Henry Quartey, the public has been urged to observe the day as a holiday across the country. The Farmers’ Day celebration this year, which will be the 40th edition, was themed: “Building Climate-Resilient Agriculture for Sustainable Food Security.”

Although the Farmers’ Day celebration was held earlier, on Friday, November 8, 2024, the official holiday has been set for December 6. The date was shifted from the traditional first Friday of December due to the upcoming general elections. Despite the earlier celebration, December 6 remains a statutory holiday.
