President Nana Akufo-Addo is set to inaugurate several hospitals today, December 5, 2024, under the government’s flagship Agenda 111 initiative. The commissioning will include hospitals located in key regions across the country, marking a significant milestone in the government’s efforts to expand healthcare infrastructure.
Among the facilities scheduled for inauguration are the Atwima Kwanwoma Municipal Hospital at Trede and the Oforikrom Municipal Hospital, both situated in the Ashanti Region. Additionally, the President will commission hospitals in the Eastern Region, including the Okere, Jumapo, and Kwabeng Hospitals. He will also inaugurate the Ahanta West Hospital in the Western Region.
These hospitals are part of the broader Agenda 111 initiative, which aims to construct 111 district and specialized hospitals across Ghana. The project, officially known as Ghana’s Priority Health Infrastructure Projects, is intended to improve access to quality healthcare throughout the country.
The Agenda 111 initiative includes the establishment of seven regional hospitals, two regional psychiatric hospitals (one each for the northern and middle belt zones), and a new national psychiatric hospital in Accra, all designed to strengthen the nation’s healthcare system.
