National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate John Dramani Mahama has pledged to construct a stadium in every region of Ghana if he wins the upcoming election. Speaking during a campaign rally in the Oti Region on Monday, Mahama outlined his plan to invest in sports infrastructure as part of his broader vision for youth development across the country.

Mahama explained that the initiative aims to nurture young athletic talent, promote sports, and provide better opportunities for youth in all regions. He also emphasized the importance of creating jobs through such development projects.

“One of the policies of the NDC is to build stadiums in every region. So in the Oti Region, we will build one for you,” Mahama told supporters. “Every region will also have a regional police station, and so we will also build one here for you. The NDC is the only party that will bring development to this region so that it will be recognized as the best region in the country.”

Currently, the Accra Sports Stadium is the only venue in Ghana certified to host events sanctioned by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). Under Mahama’s previous administration, the NDC made significant strides in improving Ghana’s sports infrastructure, including the inauguration of the Cape Coast Stadium in 2016. The Cape Coast facility marked a major milestone in modernizing the nation’s sports venues.
