- Coach Blames Loss on Lack of Concentration
Asante Kotoko’s head coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum, has attributed the team’s 2-1 defeat to Legon Cities to a critical loss of concentration in the dying moments of the match.
The game, held on Wednesday night at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, showcased a competitive clash where Albert Yeboah put the home side ahead. Although Kotoko’s Albert Amoah equalized, Abdul Rahman clinched the victory for Legon Cities with a late goal, marking the end of Kotoko’s unbeaten start to the season.
Reflecting on the match, Ogum remarked, “I think a slight loss of concentration accounted for our defeat. If you look at the two goals that they scored, it was just a loss of concentration.”
Despite the disappointment of losing their first game of the season, Ogum emphasized the need for his team to move forward. “It was an exciting game and a game of two halves. It was not the best way to lose, especially considering how we played in the second half. It shouldn’t have happened, but then it did. We just have to put ourselves together and move on,” he stated.
Currently, Asante Kotoko sits second in the league table with 15 points and will prepare to face Heart of Lions in their upcoming Matchday 9 clash at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium this weekend.
