“Church Girls Now Engage in Hookups; There is No Money” – Broda Sammy

Renowned Ghanaian gospel musician Broda Sammy has voiced concerns over the financial hardships faced by young women in church communities, revealing that some are resorting to “hookup” culture as a means of survival.

In an appearance on United Showbiz on October 26, 2024, Broda Sammy emphasized the need for churches to take a more proactive role in supporting struggling members. He warned that failing to provide aid could have severe repercussions within the church community.

“Some female church members are now engaged in hookups; there is no money,” Broda Sammy lamented, criticizing churches that prioritize donations without utilizing their substantial financial resources to alleviate their congregants’ burdens.

Broda Sammy highlighted that churches with significant financial stability, often accumulated over decades, should channel their resources towards meaningful support for those in need. “Some churches have been in existence for more than 50 years. They do not have many expenses because they own most of their property,” he noted.

He illustrated the disparity, saying, “Some of their members have been selling tomatoes at the markets for years and have been consistently giving their little 1 cedi as offering but are not getting any help.”

Broda Sammy cautioned that if churches fail to reassess their approach, focusing more on members’ welfare, they risk declining attendance. “One day, there will be nobody to attend,” he warned, urging churches to rethink their strategies for community engagement and soul-winning.
