Empress Gifty’s Management Clarifies Absence from Nana Ama McBrown’s Show
- Empress Gifty misses McBrown's show
- Daughter's illness cited as reason
- Cooking show rivalry tensions remain
Following her unexpected absence from Nana Ama McBrown’s show, the management of gospel musician Empress Gifty has provided clarity regarding the situation.
In a recent interview on Hitz FM, Empress Gifty’s publicist, Edem Tsotorme, detailed that the singer’s daughter fell ill on the same day Gifty performed at a thanksgiving ceremony for the mother-in-law of Ghanaian entrepreneur Osei Kwame Despite.
Tsotorme emphasized that Empress Gifty’s non-appearance on Onua Showtime was not related to any ongoing dispute with McBrown. “In the process, she lost her phone, so many people who were trying to reach her couldn’t get through. As of 5:58 pm, I was the one who called McBrown’s production team to inform them about the situation. I even went with a team member to McBrown’s show, hoping Empress Gifty could manage to come on the show, but the situation was beyond her control,” he explained.
He also provided an update on Empress Gifty’s daughter, stating, “Her daughter is now responding to treatment, and we are hopeful for a full recovery.”
Background on Their Dispute
Tensions between Empress Gifty and Nana Ama McBrown had escalated after Empress Gifty launched a new cooking show on UTV, which replaced McBrown’s Kitchen following McBrown’s departure to Media General. McBrown had previously criticized the influx of “copycats” in the cooking show arena, asserting her status as the original host. This sparked a series of exchanges, with accusations that McBrown had overshadowed opportunities for Empress Gifty.
