Media personality Nana Aba Anamoah has lauded Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, for his thorough approach to addressing the issue of illegal mining, commonly referred to as galamsey.
In a recent post on X, Nana Aba described Dr. Bawumia’s proposed solutions as the most practical she has encountered in her discussions surrounding the topic.
During a stakeholder meeting, Dr. Bawumia outlined a preventive strategy aimed at sanitizing the small-scale mining sector. His plan includes empowering the Geological Survey Authority to accurately map mineral reserves and establishing a resource pool of equipment to support sustainable mining practices.
Furthermore, he emphasized the need for using mercury-free gold catcher machines to promote environmentally responsible mining.
Reacting to these proposals, Nana Aba expressed her approval, highlighting the Vice President’s deep understanding of the complexities surrounding galamsey. She noted that his strategy presents realistic measures to effectively combat the issue.
“I just listened to Dr. Bawumia’s remarks on galamsey. Glad he’s finally commented on the menace. His solution is the most practical one I’ve heard so far. I hope he walks the talk if he gets the mandate,” Nana Aba posted on X.
Despite facing criticism from some users following her commendation of the vice president’s proposals in light of the upcoming December elections, Nana Aba remained steadfast. She stated that she is unfazed by their criticisms and stands by everything she shares on social media.
