The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has published the list of polling stations for the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections.
In a statement issued on October 10, EC’s Deputy Chairman in Charge of Operations, Samuel Tettey, announced the total number of main polling stations as 40,647.
Additionally, 328 polling stations will be dedicated for special voting.
The EC also announced the printing of notices of poll and ballot papers in a communiqué on October 9.
However, this announcement was met with opposition, particularly from the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
On October 10, the NDC met with other political parties to discuss their concerns.
During the meeting, the NDC requested ballot statistics ahead of the printing process.
The EC directed them to confirm the statistics with the commissioned printing houses.
Clarifying the process, the EC stated that printing of notices of poll for presidential and parliamentary elections commenced on October 11.
The EC’s announcements come as Ghana prepares for the 2024 elections, with political parties and stakeholders closely monitoring the electoral process.
