Ghanaian dancehall star Shatta Wale has publicly knelt before former President John Dramani Mahama, asking for forgiveness for his past actions that have strained their relationship. The singer expressed regret over his public rants against the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
In a heartfelt response, Mahama reassured him, saying, “Oh, it’s nothing, you’re my son, and I hold nothing against you.”
Shatta Wale reflected on their past connection, revealing that Mahama played a pivotal role in helping him purchase his first house, a gesture he described as significant and unforgettable. He emphasized that he could never be ungrateful to the former president.
In light of their reconciliation, Mahama promised to reach out to party executives whom Shatta Wale may have offended and to advocate on his behalf.
Shatta Wale was once a favored figure among Mahama and the NDC until he publicly warned the party to refrain from using his songs during their campaigns, rallies, and political events. The misunderstanding began when the NDC interpreted his song “Mahama Paper” as an endorsement of the former president.
However, Shatta Wale quickly clarified his neutral political stance, stating that he would require payment for any official use of his song.
