A petrol-filled bottle discovered near the building and a suspicious padlock securing the entrance from the outside have fueled the family’s suspicions of arson. Furthermore, CCTV footage reportedly captured a mysterious figure lurking in the area just before the fire broke out.
Some family members believe that Kwabena Osei’s alleged involvement in internet fraud may have led to conflicts with associates, potentially contributing to the fatal incident. Mark Mortey, a family member of Kwabena Osei, recounted receiving a distressing call about the incident.
“I had a call around 3:00 am, but it hung up. When I tried to call back, the number wasn’t reachable. Later, I was told that my grandson and his girlfriend had been burnt.” Upon inquiry, Mortey was informed that the incident appeared to be a deliberate act of arson.
Felicia, Princess Ahiatey’s mother, shared her concerns about her daughter’s involvement with Osei. Despite warnings from her family, Princess had been asked to assist Osei in his illegal activities. “My daughter told me that Osei’s friend, who is also into scamming, wanted someone to communicate with their victims.”
On the night before the fire, Princess went to meet Osei despite her family’s objections. Felicia recalled, “She was menstruating, and I advised her not to go. Her younger sibling also warned her. But she received a call and left, never to return.”
