Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, the Vice Presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has made a promising declaration to the people of Western North Region. During her three-day campaign tour, she assured NDC supporters at a rally in Datano, Bodi Constituency, that the next NDC administration will revive and complete all abandoned cocoa road projects.

On Tuesday, October 2, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang expressed her deep concern about the government’s abandonment of cocoa roads, criticizing their failure to make public the report on cocoa road projects after falsely accusing the Mahama administration. This move, she emphasized, has hindered the progress of the region.

The Vice Presidential candidate urged the people not to lose hope, assuring them that the next NDC administration will prioritize the completion of abandoned cocoa road projects. This promise is part of the NDC’s broader commitment to revitalizing the cocoa sector.

In addition to completing abandoned projects, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang announced that the NDC government will reintroduce the free fertilizer program and ensure cocoa farmers receive the correct producer price. These initiatives aim to boost the cocoa industry and improve the livelihoods of farmers.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang’s message was clear: the NDC is dedicated to the well-being and development of the Western North Region. She emphasized that the party’s vision is built on inclusivity, peace, and unity, regardless of political affiliation, religion, or ethnic background.

During her tour, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang also highlighted the NDC’s past achievements in the region. She mentioned the six E-blocks initiated during her tenure as Education Minister, which unfortunately remained abandoned by the current government.

The Vice Presidential candidate’s campaign tour included stops in Asempaneye, Juabeso constituency, Kwesiadukrom, Bodi constituency, Akontombra, Aowin, and Suaman Constituencies.

Local leaders, such as Nana Annor Kwerekye, Chief of Sefwi-Essakrom, expressed their support for Prof. Opoku-Agyemang and the NDC. They appealed to her to consider creating a new district for Asawinso if the party wins the December polls.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang was accompanied by notable figures, including Mr. Michael Aidoo, Regional Chairman, and Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Member of Parliament for North Tongu.

The NDC’s commitment to the Western North Region’s development was reaffirmed through Prof. Opoku-Agyemang’s campaign tour. Her message of hope and progress resonated with the people, urging them to vote massively for John Dramani Mahama and NDC parliamentary candidates in the December general election.
