Man Beheads Ex-Wife, Commits Suicide in Ashanti Region

A gruesome incident occurred in the Ashanti Region on Saturday, September 28, 2024, when a man in his mid-60s, identified as Chief, beheaded his ex-wife, Emelia, before taking his own life.
The incident took place in Taabuom, a community within the Atwima Kwawonma Constituency.
Chief and Emelia, who had a nine-year-old child together, had recently separated.
According to reports, Emelia, who was now residing in Ohwim near Kumasi, had visited her cassava farm in Taabuom to work on Saturday. Unknown to her, Chief had followed her there.
In a shocking act of violence, Chief attacked Emelia, severing her head.
He then fled the scene and called his sister to confess to the crime, stating that he was about to end his own life.
Chief was not seen again until the following day when a passerby discovered him unconscious and foaming at the mouth.
He was rushed to a hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival, suspected to have ingested poison.
A subsequent search of the cassava farm led to the discovery of Emelia’s lifeless body.
The disturbing incident has been reported to the police, who have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the double tragedy.
