Cameroon soccer legend Samuel Eto’o has been banned by FIFA from attending any national team games for six months.
The president of the Cameroon Football Federation since 2021, Eto’o was found guilty of violating disciplinary rules related to “offensive behavior and violations of the principles of fair play” during an incident at the Under-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia on September 11th.
FIFA did not disclose the specific details of the incident, but the ban will prevent Eto’o from attending any matches involving Cameroon teams, including the men’s national team’s qualifying campaigns for the 2026 World Cup and 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The 43-year-old Eto’o is one of Cameroon’s most celebrated footballers, having represented the country at four World Cups and scoring a record 56 goals.
He also won three Champions League titles during his illustrious career.
