US authorities have confirmed that rapper Fatman Scoop passed away due to heart disease. He collapsed on stage during a performance in Connecticut in August and later died in the hospital at the age of 56.
A spokesperson for the Connecticut chief medical examiner’s office revealed that he suffered from hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. Born Isaac Freeman III, Fatman Scoop was widely recognized for his hit song “Be Faithful,” which reached number one in the UK in 2003, as well as for his appearance on “Celebrity Big Brother” in 2015.

His family released a heartfelt statement following his death, describing him as “not just a world-class performer” but also a “father, brother, uncle, and friend.” They added, “He was the laughter in our lives, a constant source of support, unwavering strength, and courage.”
Regarded as one of New York’s most influential hip hop figures of the 1990s, Scoop’s agency, MN2S, remarked that his “legacy will live on through his timeless music.” The spokesperson further emphasized, “Scoop was a beloved figure in the music world, whose work was loved by countless fans across the globe.
