The Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, has assured that the upcoming December 7 elections will not disrupt the work of the Constitution Review Consultative Committee.
Established by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, the Committee is tasked with gathering ideas on how to review the 1992 Constitution.
Despite concerns about the timing of the Committee’s work, just three months ahead of a critical election, Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu emphasized that the electoral process will not interfere with the Committee’s efforts.
“I have heard people express doubts about the possibility of constitutional amendments during an election year. However, I believe that we can proceed with the consultation process and implement necessary changes even after the elections, as was done in 1996,” the Minister stated.
