No Gospel Musicians Checked on Me After Accident -Sonnie Badu

US-based Ghanaian gospel musician and pastor, Sonnie Badu, has opened up about the neglect he faced from his fellow gospel singers after a domestic accident in December 2023.

The incident occurred when Badu stumbled on the steps between his garden and metal railings while cleaning and watering, resulting in severe injuries that required surgery.

Despite his condition, Badu remarkably performed at his Rhythms of Africa concert in Accra on December 9, 2023, sparking social media speculation that his injury was staged to promote the event.

However, Badu has now revealed the truth behind his ordeal, expressing disappointment and shock at the lack of support from his fellow gospel musicians.

Badu lamented that none of his gospel music colleagues checked on him during his recovery, leaving him feeling isolated and un cared for.

“I realised that not even a single gospel artist colleague or pastor would check up on me, that’s when I said even if I died, nobody cares; I have to rise up quickly,” Badu stated.

Badu emphasized that if the situation were reversed, he would have made an effort to reach out and offer support, regardless of personal relationships.

However, he gratefully acknowledged that a few pastors, including Nigerian Pastor Jerry Eze, Prophet Agyemang Prempeh, Apostle Amoako Atta, and Pastor Kingsley, showed him love and support through social media.

Badu revealed that his injury worsened on the day of the concert, but he persevered and delivered a remarkable performance, crediting God’s healing grace and mercy.

The musician expressed gratitude for surviving the potentially fatal accident, which initially threatened his head but ultimately affected his leg, and continues to count on divine support in his recovery and ministry.
