The Electoral Commission (EC) has officially acknowledged the petition from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) following their ‘Enough is Enough’ protest on Tuesday.
The NDC is demanding a forensic audit of the voters’ register, citing concerns over its integrity as the December 7 elections approach.
In a statement from Deputy Chairman of Operations, Samuel Tettey, the EC assured both the public and the NDC of its commitment to producing a credible and comprehensive final voters’ register. “The process of creating the Final Register is still in its early stages,” he noted, emphasizing the importance of a reliable register for fair elections.
The EC has expressed its openness to dialogue with the NDC regarding their concerns and is set to review the petition, promising a formal response in the coming days.
Tettey reiterated, “We assure the NDC and all stakeholders of our commitment to delivering a robust Final Register ahead of the December 2024 Elections.”
