President Akufo-Addo has reiterated his commitment to bolstering public-private partnerships in Ghana, emphasizing their vital contribution to the nation’s progress.

During a dinner and awards ceremony held in Kwahu-Nkwatia, Eastern Region, in celebration of the State Interests and Governance Authority’s (SIGA) 5th anniversary, the President lauded the achievements of state institutions over recent years.

He underscored the government’s initiatives to reform and enhance the oversight of state-owned enterprises (SOEs), affirming their significance in national development.

“It is through this recognition and appreciation that we come together to celebrate excellence. Our continued dedication will ensure Ghana’s prosperity,” President Akufo-Addo remarked.

He praised the Public Enterprises League Table (PELT) and Awards, led by Honorable Joseph Cudjoe, Minister for Public Enterprises, and supported by SIGA. This initiative systematically assesses the performance of various entities, promoting competition and accountability.

“I applaud Honorable Joseph Cudjoe for his vision and leadership in establishing this important initiative,” President Akufo-Addo said.

“This event represents the third edition of the PELT awards since its launch in 2020 and will be my final PELT awards ceremony as President.”

The President extended his congratulations to the award recipients and urged those striving for recognition to remain focused. He added, “These awards not only acknowledge success but also foster a culture of transparency, accountability, and ongoing improvement within our public enterprises.”

He concluded by stressing the crucial role these entities play in Ghana’s economic growth and in achieving the ‘Ghana Beyond Aid’ vision.

“These institutions are key to fostering self-reliance, reducing dependency on foreign imports, and establishing Ghana as a competitive global player. Their success enhances the standard of living for all Ghanaians by generating employment, delivering quality services, and producing goods that meet international standards.”
