Karbo Mocks NDC’s ‘Enough is Enough’ Protest as Pointless Exercise
- NDC's protest dismissed as "keep-fit" exercise by Anthony Karbo
- EC has internal mechanisms to address voter register issues
- CFI proposes independent audit of voter register
- Stakeholders urged to prioritize national interest for peaceful elections
Anthony Karbo, a senior aide on Dr. Bawumia’s campaign team, has dismissed the National Democratic Congress (NDC) “Enough is Enough” protest as a mere “keep-fit” exercise.
Karbo stated that the NDC is aware of the Electoral Commission’s (EC) internal mechanisms to address discrepancies in the voter register.
Speaking to the media in Kpone Katamanso, Karbo emphasized the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) focus on delivering its message to the electorate.
The NPP will not be distracted by the NDC’s demonstrations, Karbo said. Karbo questioned the need for a forensic audit, citing examples of imperfect voter registers in the US and UK.
He noted that previous forensic audits revealed discrepancies but did not significantly impact election outcomes. Karbo described the NDC’s protest as an “exercise” to show force.
Meanwhile, the Civic Forum Initiative (CFI) has urged the EC to commit to an independent audit of the final voter register.
The CFI proposes sincere dialogue between stakeholders to resolve the impasse. The CFI remains committed to supporting peaceful and credible election processes.
