US Considers Lifting Restrictions on Ukraine’s Use of Long-Range Weapons

Story Highlights

US President Joe Biden has suggested that the US may consider lifting restrictions on Ukraine’s use of long-range missiles against Russia.

This comes as US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy prepare to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv.

The US has previously been cautious about supplying weapons that could strike targets deep inside Russia, fearing escalation.

However, Biden’s recent comments indicate a possible shift in policy.

Ukraine has repeatedly requested access to long-range missiles to counter Russia’s invasion. Russia’s President Vladimir Putin has warned that such actions could lead to serious consequences.

The US, UK, France, and Germany have imposed new sanctions on Iran for allegedly supplying ballistic missiles to Russia for use in Ukraine.
