The Electoral Commission (EC) has vowed to uphold the highest standards of fairness and tranquility in the upcoming December elections, emphasizing that their credibility is at stake.
Dr. Eric Bossman Asare, the EC’s Deputy Chairperson for Corporate Services, in an interview reassured the public of the commission’s unwavering dedication to electoral integrity.
Dr. Asare underscored the intense scrutiny the EC faces from both national and international observers, stating that failure is not an option.
He reflected on his personal connections and long-standing relationships, stressing that his commitment to a fair electoral process is deeply personal and rooted in his professional and community ties.
“With our reputation on the line, and knowing that many people are counting on us—including my own past students and acquaintances—I am determined to deliver a flawless electoral process,”
Dr. Asare said. “We are fully committed to ensuring that, come December 7, all processes are transparent and efficient. Our goal is to conduct another successful election.”
Meanwhile, the Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO) has urged law enforcement to enforce electoral laws rigorously. CODEO’s National Coordinator, Albert Arhin, called for strict action against electoral offenders, stressing that accountability and enforcement are crucial to maintaining a credible and democratic election process.
Arhin highlighted the ongoing issue of impunity in electoral offences and urged the EC to impose penalties that will deter future violations. “It’s essential that those who break the law are held accountable to prevent further wrongdoing,” he said.
