Five independent presidential candidates have officially submitted their nomination forms.
The contenders include Percival Kofi Akpaloo of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Nana Kwame Bediako—commonly known as Cheddar—from The New Force Movement, George Twum-Barima, leader of the Ghana Union Movement (GUM), Christian Kwabena Andrews, and Samuel Apea-Danquah from Yellow Ghana.
On Monday, Akpaloo, Apea-Danquah, and Cheddar presented their nominations at the Electoral Commission (EC) office, where they were welcomed by EC Chairperson Jean Mensa and her team.
Meanwhile, GUM’s General Secretary submitted the nomination for Mr. Kwabena Andrews.
Earlier in the day, New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia had already filed his nomination, Asiedu Nketia, the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) submitted John Mahama’s Presidential Nomination Forms to the EC at 2 pm.
The EC has indicated that more than 20 independent candidates have picked up forms, suggesting that we can anticipate additional nominations in the days ahead.
