- Bernard Mornah has emerged as the flagbearer for the PNC
- Mornah secured 1,138 votes
- His challenger David Apasera secured 216 votes
In a decisive victory, Bernard Mornah has emerged as the flagbearer for the People’s National Convention (PNC) in the upcoming December 7 general election.
At the party’s congress held at the UDS Guest House in Accra on September 7, 2024, Mornah secured 1,138 votes, surpassing his challenger David Apasera’s 216 votes.
In his acceptance speech, Mornah extended an olive branch to Apasera, urging him to join forces and work together to lead the PNC to victory.
This gesture of unity came after a tumultuous day, marked by delays and disputes. Initially, the congress was scheduled to begin at 9 am, but was held up due to an injunction filed by Apasera’s camp.
However, the party managed to resolve the issue, allowing the proceedings to continue smoothly.
As the results were announced, tensions flared among party activists, with agents from various aspirants contesting the Electoral Commission’s declaration.
Despite these challenges, Mornah’s victory marks a significant milestone for the PNC as it prepares for the general election.
