The Chief Executive Officer of Ghana National Gas Company (GNGC), Ben K.D. Asante, has urged for the swift implementation of a Gas Act to provide a regulatory framework for the energy sector.

Asante emphasized the importance of accessing capital, particularly in Africa, to develop necessary infrastructure.

He highlighted the need to diversify gas usage beyond power generation and stressed the crucial role of the Gas Act in driving these initiatives.

Asante called for increased private sector participation, access to finance, and local content provisions to ensure the sustainability of the gas sector.

The Minister for Public Enterprises, Joseph Cudjoe, echoed the need for a shift in mindset regarding electricity consumption and payment.

He appealed to Ghanaians to recognize electricity as a valuable service that requires payment.

Cudjoe also advocated for the privatization of parts of the electricity sector to improve efficiency and pricing mechanisms.
