Renowned Ghanaian actress and media personality Grace Omaboe, affectionately known as Maame Dokono, has publicly expressed her support for a proposal to erect a statue in her honor at Maame Dokono Park in Accra.
In a recent interview with Blakk Rasta on the Urban Blend show on 3FM, Omaboe discussed her feelings about the recognition she has received throughout her career. While acknowledging the various honors she has been given, she emphasized that a statue or bust at the park would serve as a lasting tribute to her legacy and inspire future generations.
“Yes! I think there should be my statue there for my legacy to be in the minds of the little ones who are coming because I am even in their books,” Omaboe stated. She added, “If something like that could be erected in my honor, it will be a nice thing. I am not forcing anybody to do it but if it is done, fine!”
Grace Omaboe’s illustrious career spans over 50 years, captivating audiences with her exceptional acting skills in both film and theater. She gained widespread recognition as the leading actress in Ghana’s acclaimed TV show Akan Drama and as the head of the Obra Drama Group. Her television show By the Fireside was particularly popular among younger viewers.
