Ghana Fans Run Riot After Black Stars Loss To Angola
- Fans threw plastic bottles and damaged stadium property
- Supporters forcibly entered the stadium and vandalized wooden pitch panels
- Ghana will face Niger on Monday
Following Ghana’s unexpected 1-0 loss to Angola in a 2025 AFCON qualifier at Kumasi’s Baba Yara Stadium, tempers flared among fans.
The defeat ended Ghana’s 24-year unbeaten streak at the venue, sparking a wave of vandalism.
As the Black Stars struggled on a subpar pitch, frustration mounted. Angola’s Felicio Milson scored in added time, delivering the match-winning goal and marking Angola’s first victory in Group F, which also features Sudan and Niger.
In another Group F fixture, Sudan triumphed over Niger 1-0.
The final whistle triggered chaos, with some fans hurling plastic bottles and others breaking through the stadium’s perimeter, damaging wooden pitch panels. Earlier, a breach at the T.I. Ahmadiyya end allowed fans to force entry into the stadium.
Ghana will face Niger next on Monday, September 9 in Morocco at 15:00 GMT.
