Boko Haram Slaughters 127 in Nigerian Village Attack
- Attack targeted Mafa village in Yobe state
- Victims were buried on Tuesday as search efforts continue
- Amnesty International condemns the assault as a war crime
Amnesty International reported on Tuesday that Boko Haram militants killed at least 127 people in a brutal assault on Mafa village, located in northwestern Nigeria’s Yobe state.
The human rights organization revealed that the attack occurred on Sunday, with victims being buried on Tuesday.
Amnesty International Nigeria condemned the attack, calling on Nigerian authorities to investigate the heinous act.
The organization noted that the search for bodies continues in both the forest and the remains of burned homes.
The rights group highlighted that the attack underscores Boko Haram’s blatant disregard for international humanitarian laws and constitutes a war crime due to its deliberate targeting of civilians.
According to police and witnesses, the terrorists arrived on motorcycles and launched their assault on the remote village late Sunday.
Due to the area’s isolation, detailed information about the attack only emerged on Tuesday, as noted by police spokesperson Abdulkarim Dungus.
