Social media users are expressing mixed reactions following the death of a woman in her mid-thirties after a failed body enhancement procedure. The deceased, identified as Abiola, passed away following a botched Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) procedure at a clinic in Lekki-Phase 1, Lagos.
The incident has sparked a heated debate online. One Instagram user remarked, “No pity from here… I have the softest heart but in this case no pity at all.” Another user questioned, “Everyone in this comment section saying because of man has no empathy. No one is asking why the clinic could not even control the situation after just injecting her; how the hell are they allowed to run a business in that country?”
According to Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, a nurse has been arrested in connection with Abiola’s death. The procedure involved, known as a Brazilian Butt Lift, is designed to enhance the buttocks by transferring excess fat from other parts of the body.
Hundeyin confirmed that the Maroko Police Division had been alerted by Abiola’s driver about the tragic event. He provided further details, stating, “Upon their arrival, the clinic owner directed a nurse to administer the injection on Abiola. Moments later, chaos ensued as the woman lost consciousness and started gasping for breath.”
In a bid to save her, Abiola’s driver transported her to another hospital in Lekki Phase 1. Despite these efforts, she was pronounced dead upon arrival. “Desperate for help, the driver rushed Abiola to another hospital in Lekki Phase 1, but she was confirmed dead by the staff on duty upon arrival,” Hundeyin added.
Lagos State Police detectives have visited the scene, collected evidence, and documented the incident. Abiola’s body has been transported to a morgue for an autopsy. Hundeyin stated, “Detectives from the command had visited the scene, gathered evidence, inspected and photographed the woman’s remains, and subsequently transported the corpse to a morgue for autopsy.” He also confirmed that the nurse involved is in custody and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
