Tragedy Strikes as Man Commits Suicide After Being Reported to Police

A tragic incident occurred in Sango-Ota, Ogun State, where a 35-year-old man, Emmanuel Urhobocha, was found dead in his apartment on Alafia Street.
The deceased’s flatmate, Obabiyi David, had reported Urhobocha’s erratic behavior to the Sango-Ota Police Division, expressing concerns for his well-being.
According to the Ogun State Police Command, Urhobocha’s death is believed to be a suicide, which occurred at approximately 9:00 am on Friday, August 30, 2024.
This incident comes just two days after another tragic event in the state, where a 32-year-old man, Oluwaṣeun Shorinola, took his own life in the Kémta area of Abeokuta.
The police spokesperson, Odutola Omolola, confirmed the details of the report and the ongoing investigation into both incidents.
Obabiyi David had informed the police that Urhobocha was behaving oddly and had even attacked him with a knife, leaving him with injuries.
Officers from the Sango-Ota division were sent to interrogate Urhobocha about the reported assault, but upon arrival, they found the room locked from the inside.
After multiple efforts to break open the door, they gained access and found Urhobocha dead in the apartment, with a container of insecticide next to his body.
The deceased was promptly transported to a local hospital, but the attending doctor confirmed him dead.
The police spokesperson revealed that the body had been placed in the morgue for an autopsy, and the incident remains under investigation.
