FIFA has once again delayed its review of a Palestinian proposal to suspend Israel from the international football arena.
The governing body cited the need for further legal evaluation.
The Palestine Football Association (PFA) had submitted a proposal in May to suspend Israel over its ongoing war on Gaza.
FIFA initially promised to address the matter at an extraordinary council meeting in July but has since postponed the review twice.
In its latest statement, FIFA announced that the independent legal assessment of the PFA’s proposals would be sent to the FIFA Council for review in October.
The specific date of the meeting was not disclosed.
The Palestinian proposal accuses the Israel Football Association (IFA) of complicity in Israeli government violations of international law, discrimination against Arab players, and the inclusion of clubs located in Palestinian territory in its league.
The IFA has denied these allegations.
The PFA has highlighted the devastating impact of the war on Palestinian football, including the deaths of numerous players, destruction of infrastructure, suspension of leagues, and forced displacement of the national team.
While FIFA has acknowledged the gravity of the situation, it has not yet taken any concrete action on the Palestinian proposal.
The ongoing delay has raised concerns among Palestinian football officials and supporters.
