Devastating Fire Strikes Zongo Lane in Accra

A major fire broke out in Zongo Lane, near Rawlings Park, in Accra, causing significant damage to several shops.

The blaze, which started in a small shop, quickly spread to neighboring businesses, sending plumes of thick black smoke into the air.

Firefighters arrived promptly to contain the fire, but the intense flames and explosions of gas cylinders and generators posed significant challenges.

The GNFS Public Relations Officer, Alex King Nartey, noted that access to the building was hindered by burglarproof fortifications and padlocks, delaying their efforts.

The fire left numerous shops destroyed, with clothing, electronics, and other items reduced to ashes.

The full extent of the damage is still being assessed.
