Liverpool midfielder Stefan Bajcetic has joined Austrian club Red Bull Salzburg on loan for the remainder of the 2024-25 season.

The 19-year-old Spaniard, who made his Liverpool debut in August 2022, has struggled with playing time due to injuries and competition for places.

Bajcetic missed a significant portion of last season with a thigh injury and has not been included in Liverpool’s starting lineup under new manager Arne Slot.

At Red Bull Salzburg, he will reunite with former Liverpool assistant coach Pep Lijnders, who is now the club’s manager.

Red Bull Salzburg, a prominent club known for developing young talent, is currently at the top of the Austrian Bundesliga and has qualified for the Champions League group stage.

Bajcetic expressed his excitement for the move, citing the club’s focus on player development and his familiarity with Lijnders.

“I’m eager to win the league and make a strong impression in the Champions League with my new team,” Bajcetic said. “Salzburg’s commitment to developing young players is a major factor in my decision, and Pep Lijnders is the ideal coach for this. I’m looking forward to the challenge.”
