Former Ghana national team captain Asamoah Gyan has disclosed that his involvement in womanizing is one of his significant regrets.
Despite amassing considerable wealth throughout his nearly two-decade career in professional football, the 38-year-old Gyan has revealed that his personal behavior did not benefit him. Speaking on Onua Showbiz with Nana Ama McBrown, Gyan said, “Everyone womanises but it didn’t help me. It didn’t help me at all. Sometimes I don’t blame them too much, because it could be out of excitement.”
He advised, “My advice is that people and their partners should endeavour to keep things to themselves. Once they start telling people about what is happening in their relationships, it could be used to destroy the relationship.”
Gyan’s personal life has been marked by controversies and marital difficulties. In November 2023, he made headlines due to the annulment of his marriage to Gifty Gyan. The couple, who married in 2013, faced significant challenges, leading to their separation. Gyan had initially filed for divorce in 2018, citing doubts about the legitimacy of their three children and requesting DNA paternity tests.
After a lengthy legal battle, the High Court in Accra ruled in October 2023 that Gyan was indeed the biological father of all three children. The court mandated that Gyan pay GHc25,000 monthly for their welfare and upkeep, excluding costs for school fees, medical bills, and other expenses.
Additionally, Gyan’s UK residence and a four-bedroom apartment in Ghana were awarded to Gifty as part of the court’s decision. Other assets, including a gas station in Prampram and a BMW car, were also granted to her.
