Ghanaian entertainment pundit Kwaku Osei Koranteng Asiedu, widely known as KOKA, has taken aim at Stonebwoy over his criticism of being excluded from a recent Grammys article on hiplife music.
In a discussion with content creator Kwadwo Sheldon, KOKA addressed the controversy surrounding Stonebwoy’s omission from the Grammys hiplife tribute. He dismissed Stonebwoy’s remarks as baseless, asserting that winning the TGMA Artiste of the Year award does not qualify him for recognition among the genre’s pioneers.
“He has lost it. He is not current. The fact that you are the Artiste of the Year does not warrant that you should be in the past history,” KOKA said.
KOKA further criticized Stonebwoy’s response to the tribute, suggesting that if Stonebwoy had a legitimate reason for inclusion, the music community would support his case. Instead, KOKA described the BHIM Nation president’s comments as unjustified and labeled him a “crybaby.”
“He doesn’t have a case. That is why he is talking for himself. If he had a case, the community would speak for him, but this one is more like a rant. He is a crybaby,” KOKA added.
Stonebwoy’s comments emerged following the publication of a Grammys article that traced the history of hiplife music in Ghana, from its origins in the late 90s to its current state. The article featured hiplife pioneers such as Reggie Rockstone, Mzbel, and Obrafour, alongside newer artists like Black Sherif and King Paluta, who have contributed to global recognition of Ghanaian music. Stonebwoy had criticized his exclusion from the piece, which sparked the ongoing debate.
