The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has issued a stern warning to senior security officers, cautioning them against assisting the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in allegedly rigging the upcoming December polls.
Speaking in the Ayensuano Constituency in the Eastern Region, NDC National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah emphasized the importance of security personnel maintaining their neutrality.
Asiedu Nketiah revealed that the NDC has evidence of security officers involved in the killing of eight people during the 2020 elections, highlighting the severity of the situation.
He stressed that any law enforcer who aids the NPP in subverting the will of electorates will face consequences, emphasizing that “crime has no expiry date”.
Asiedu Nketiah warned security personnel against following unlawful orders, urging them to prioritize their integrity and professionalism.
He addressed police and military commanders directly, cautioning them against giving orders that could lead to harm or violence against citizens.
Asiedu Nketiah emphasized that those who engage in such actions will not go unpunished, as accountability awaits them.
He reiterated that the NDC will not stand idly by while the NPP attempts to manipulate the electoral process.
The NDC National Chairman’s comments come as tensions rise ahead of the December polls, with concerns about electoral integrity and security personnel’s role in maintaining peace.
Asiedu Nketiah’s warning serves as a reminder to security personnel of their critical role in upholding democracy and ensuring a free and fair electoral process.
