Former Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu, has criticized the NPP’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, for suggesting an upgrade for Ghana. According to Iddrisu, the country’s current state requires a reset, as proposed by John Mahama, rather than an upgrade.
Iddrisu stated that the NPP had eight years to address the country’s economic challenges but failed. He emphasized that the NPP had ample opportunity to deliver on their promises but squandered it.
Iddrisu questioned the NPP’s ability to fulfill their promises in 100 days, given their inability to do so in eight years. He referenced the NPP’s 2016 manifesto, which promised to transform Ghana’s economy and end the suffering of Ghanaians, but failed to deliver.
Iddrisu argued that the NPP’s suggestion to upgrade Ghana is misplaced, as it is impossible to upgrade hardship, inflation, and poor economic performance. He believes the NPP is aware of the “filth” they have created and is waiting for the NDC to clean up the mess.
Iddrisu highlighted the NPP’s access to significant resources, including over GH₵500 billion in additional revenue, yet they failed to improve the country’s situation. He concluded that the NPP has no excuse for failing Ghanaians and plunging the nation into crisis.
