Residents of Appiatse near Bogoso in the Western Region, who have benefited from the area’s reconstruction housing initiative, have started settling into their new residences.
This relocation began following the official launch of the community’s first phase of reconstruction by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in May 2024.
The government had pledged to rebuild approximately 124 housing units destroyed in the community, and it has fulfilled this commitment with the construction of a comprehensive housing project designed to accommodate the displaced residents.
The new development includes 124 housing units, varying from one to seven bedrooms, equipped with high-quality sanitary and other facilities.
Thomas Yaw Enyam, the Assemblyman for the Bepoh-Appiatse Electoral area, reported that around 70% of the residents expected to move in have already done so.
He noted, “The beneficiaries began relocating about two weeks ago. To assist with the move, the Municipal Chief Executive, Dr. Isaac Dasmani, provided transportation to help them transition from their temporary lodgings to the new homes.”
Mr. Enyam also urged the remaining residents who have yet to move into the new apartments to be patient, assuring them that efforts are underway to facilitate a smooth relocation for everyone.
