Sid Eudy, WWE Icon and Six-Time Champion, Passes Away at 63

Sid Eudy, a legendary figure in professional wrestling and a six-time champion, has passed away at the age of 63 after a prolonged battle with cancer, his family confirmed on Monday.

Eudy, who was widely recognized by fans as Sid Justice, Sid Vicious, and Sycho Sid, gained prominence in the 1990s and was celebrated as one of the most formidable and intimidating competitors of his era, according to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE).

His son, Gunnar Eudy, described his father as “a man of strength, kindness, and love” and expressed that he will be “greatly missed.” Gunnar took to Facebook to thank supporters, saying the family “appreciate your thoughts and prayers as we grieve this loss.” He also mentioned that details regarding a memorial service would be provided soon.

Born on December 16, 1960, in Arkansas, Eudy made his mark in the wrestling world after joining World Championship Wrestling (WCW) in 1989. He competed against notable teams such as The Four Horsemen and The Steiner Brothers.

In a statement, WWE honored Eudy’s legacy: “Sid’s reputation as one of the toughest and most thrilling superstars cemented his legacy in WWE, and his influence can still be seen in wrestling rings around the world. WWE extends its condolences to Eudy’s family, friends, and fans.”

Eudy made his WWE debut as Sid Justice, notably serving as the special guest referee at SummerSlam 1991, which featured a match with WWE legend Hulk Hogan. His career highlights include two reigns as WWE Champion and two WCW World Heavyweight Championship victories. WWE noted that his accolades might have continued if not for a “catastrophic in-ring leg injury” in 2001.

Tributes have poured in from fans and wrestling professionals alike. Two-time WWE Hall of Famer Booker T Huffman praised Eudy’s impact on the sport, stating, “Without Sid Vicious, I don’t think my brother and I would have made it to WCW…My deepest condolences to his family during this difficult time,” on X.

Sid Eudy is survived by his wife, Sabrina Paige, and their two children.
