NDC Unveils Plans to Boost Ghana’s Cultural and Creative Economy

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has launched its manifesto, outlining plans to harness Ghana’s culture for economic growth and empower the creative industry.
The manifesto, launched on August 24, 2024, promises to support young digital content creators in developing content that promotes Ghanaian culture. “We will support young digital content creators to develop contents that promote Ghanaian culture,” the manifesto states.
The NDC’s presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, has pledged to establish an Integrated Cultural and Economic Empowerment program, which aims to:
- Provide sustainable financial support for creative enterprises
- Invest in capacity building and digital platforms for artists
- Develop Cultural Villages to showcase Ghana’s rich heritage
- Enhance tourism infrastructure and experiences
- Introduce digital tourism platforms
The manifesto also emphasizes inclusive cultural participation and protection, including legal and financial protections for creatives, and initiatives to promote Ghana’s cultural and tourism offerings abroad.
The NDC has also announced plans to create and promote ‘The Black Star Experience’ as Ghana’s flagship Culture, Arts, and Tourism brand.
Joy FM is set to host a debate, CREATIVE MANIFESTO ON CREATIVE ECONOMY, on September 14, 2024, where the NDC and NPP will discuss their manifesto promises and ideas for Ghana’s tourism, arts, and culture. The event will be broadcast live on Joy FM and Joy Prime.
