The National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, has reiterated his call for a “reset” of the country amid economic difficulties. At the party’s manifesto launch in Winneba, Central Region, Mahama described Ghana as a “bleeding country” in need of transformation.
He urged voters to support positive change, promising that an NDC victory would address cronyism, corruption, state capture, and economic hardships. In response, New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia argued that Ghana needs an “upgrade” rather than a “reset.”
Dr. Bawumia outlined 14 key commitments for his 2024 election campaign, including job creation and developing a world-class digital economy. Mahama rebutted Bawumia’s argument at the NDC’s National House to House campaign launch, elaborating on his “reset” concept.
He explained that the country is fundamentally broken and requires a complete reset rather than an upgrade. Mahama emphasized that his call for a reset extends beyond the economy to encompass governance and public attitudes.
He stressed that resetting the country requires collective effort and a willingness to correct past mistakes. Mahama concluded by urging all Ghanaians to consider the reset as a “labour of love” to build a lasting legacy.
