Manchester United have agreed a fee of approximately €30 million (£25.4 million) with Napoli for midfielder Scott McTominay.

While personal terms and McTominay’s agreement to the move are still pending, this marks the second consecutive year United has shown a willingness to sell the academy graduate.

Earlier in August, United rejected a £20 million bid from Fulham for the Scotland international. Last season, McTominay turned down an opportunity to join West Ham and went on to make 32 Premier League appearances and score seven goals for United.

He also started in the FA Cup final victory against Manchester City.

This season, McTominay has been used as a substitute in both Premier League games.

Manager Erik ten Hag is still seeking to strengthen his squad and recognizes that McTominay’s status as a homegrown player provides additional flexibility within the Premier League’s financial rules.

United has expressed interest in Manuel Ugarte of Paris Saint-Germain, but negotiations with the French club have not yet resulted in a deal.
