Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has praised the Nation Builders Corps (NABCo) program for its significant accomplishment of securing permanent jobs for 34,000 beneficiaries. This achievement underscores the government’s dedication to empowering Ghanaian youth and tackling unemployment.
During a media briefing on Sunday, August 25, Dr. Bawumia highlighted the program’s origins in 2018, which was designed to offer temporary employment to 100,000 young graduates across different sectors. He emphasized that the success of NABCo has surpassed initial expectations, reflecting the government’s commitment to youth development.
Dr. Bawumia also pointed out that the program has not only provided job opportunities but has also equipped beneficiaries with essential work experience and skills training. This, he noted, has been instrumental in helping them secure permanent positions and advance their careers.
Dr. Bawumia’s commendation of the Nation Builders Corps (NABCo) comes during his presidential campaign, underscoring his administration’s accomplishments in advancing youth employment and development. He emphasized the program’s significant role in reducing unemployment, improving employability, and fostering economic growth.
Despite the positive impact, Dr. Bawumia acknowledged the challenges faced by beneficiaries, particularly issues with delayed allowance payments. He assured that measures are being taken to resolve these arrears and has brought the matter to the attention of the Finance Ministry for prompt action.
This endorsement follows Dr. Bawumia’s previous praise of NABCo. In 2020, he highlighted the program’s innovative strategy in tackling youth unemployment and its potential to stimulate economic progress, reinforcing his support for its objectives and outcomes.
