Tensions are running high within the Kumawood film industry following allegations of voodoo practices among actresses, which has led to a war of words among industry players.

The controversy began when actresses Awo Yaa and Portia Asare spoke out about spiritual attacks and internal conflicts within the industry in a recent interview. They expressed frustration over the disrespect they faced from younger colleagues and the spiritual ordeals they encountered on set.

However, their comments were met with criticism from some industry members, who argued that such issues should be dealt with privately and not publicly. Veteran actress Christiana Awuni further fueled the fire with a scathing attack on Portia Asare, accusing her of arrogance and hypocrisy.

In response, several Kumawood actresses, including Kala Kumasi and producer Miracle, have come to Portia Asare’s defense, condemning Awuni’s remarks as a personal attack. Kala Kumasi emphasized the importance of allowing individuals to share their experiences without fear of backlash. She also called for a ceasefire and urged her colleagues to focus on reviving the struggling industry.

“Everyone has different experiences, and individuals should be allowed to share their stories without fear of backlash,” Kala Kumasi said. “We need to ceasefire and focus on reviving our industry, which has faced numerous challenges in recent years.”
